3D Imprinting of Environment for Visually Impaired
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aim of this article is focused on the design of an obstacle detection system for assisting visually impaired people. A simple Time of Flight camera captures real time images present in the environment of the subject. These images are analyzed using OpenCV and MATLAB for depth and position of objects. The disparity map created is segmented into depth categories. A matrix of this data corresponding to the environment is created. According to this matrix, a temporary Three-Dimensional model of the surrounding is generated using actuators and plastic blocks. The subject can then feel this model on a raised surface in order to work the path around the obstacles. Keywords— visually impaired; matrix mapping; 3-d model; interactive feedback; disparity mapping

The Goals of the Curriculum Orientation and Mobility in Iran and America (Especially the Visually Impaired Students)
This study has compared the goals and objectives of orientation and mobility (O&M) curriculums in Iran and America. The Bereday’s comparative method was used in this research. Initially the goals were defined and interpreted based on two criteria including the level of generality and the level of coverage and then they were compared by juxtaposition. The study found that American O&M curriculum...
متن کاملApplications of Virtual Reality for Visually Impaired People
This paper describes in detail the development and applications of a Virtual Reality Simulator for Visually Impaired People. It makes an auditory representation of the virtual environment, rendering the virtual world entirely through the hearing. The simulator has these main purposes: validation of auditory representation techniques, 3d sensor emulation for environment recognition and hardware ...
متن کاملExploration of Interface Usability in a Haptic 3d Virtual Labyrinth for Visually Impaired Users
In this paper, an experimental study is presented on navigation in a 3D virtual environment by blind and visually impaired people with haptic and audio interaction. A simple 3D labyrinth is developed with haptic and audio interfaces to allow blind and visually impaired persons to access a three-dimensional Virtual Reality scene through senses of touch and hearing. The user must move from inside...
متن کاملEffectiveness of Cognitive-Behavioral Group Therapy on Self-Concept of Visually Impaired Adolescents
Objectives: The present study has been conducted to determine the effectiveness of cognitivebehavioral group-therapy on the development of visually impaired adolescents’ self-concept. Methods: This study is a semi-experimental pre-test and post-test model. The study population consisted of visually impaired male students of the primary and secondary high school at the Omid...
متن کاملDesign and Evaluation of 3D Multimodal Virtual Environments for Visually Impaired People
Spatial information presented visually is not easily accessible to visually impaired users. Current technologies, such as screen readers, cannot intuitively convey spatial layout or structure. This lack of overview is an obstacle for a visually impaired user, both when using the computer individually and when collaborating with other users. With the development of haptic and audio technologies,...
